Somewhere Over the Rainbow
Monday, April 7th, 2008A Little Landscaping
Monday, April 7th, 2008This past Saturday, my husband and our youngest son worked to spread a couple loads of sand and gravel over a drainage ditch (now with a drainage pipe underneath) at the end of our driveway. The ditch had become unsightly with blackberry brambles constantly growing up, and volunteer bushes and trees doing their bit to return the driveway to its original status as part of the forest.
Seth is doing his bit to help Daddy spread the sand/gravel.
Rick took down some low-hanging branches at the end of the driveway at the same time.
Here is as finished as it got on Saturday. The next step is to spread topsoil over this, and plant some grass. This is a big improvement I think. It looks cleaner, and we have better visibility at the end of the driveway. Nice work guys!
Five Favorite Candies
Monday, April 7th, 2008The theme for Give Me Five Monday
this week is Five Favorite Candies. I should be cooking dinner just now, but I’m still bushed from running errands all day, so this counts as my coffee break!
- Reese’s Peanut Butter Cups. I only allow myself to have these occasionally, when I’m out shopping, because I do so enjoy them. Salty . . . sweet . . . chocolatey . . . What more need be said?
- Nestle Treasures, especially the “Rich Dark Chocolate Filled with Luscious Caramel” variety. I eat about one or two of these per day, with coffee. That’s to keep me sweet.
- Divinity, homemade. I find it doesn’t turn out as well in our damp climate as in dry Arizona.
- Peanut Brittle, homemade. Fortunately, I haven’t made this for decades.
- Do unbaked cookies made with rolled oats and cocoa count as candy? Those are really good, too.
