We were so thankful that rain didn’t dampen our church picnic at Bay View State Park yesterday. (We’ve experienced a veritable downpour today, so rain was a definite possibility the day of the picnic.)
Loads of friends, from very young to the wise and gray-headed, enjoyed the barbecue meal with the fixin’s, the conversations and the games. Here are few shots of the festivities:
After enjoying the time of fun and fellowship, we started on our way to the small town of Coupeville, on Whidbey Island, where school friends had invited us to dinner at their little vacation home. To get there, we had to cross the Deception Pass bridge, where we snapped a few more pics:
Here you see some of the children on the stairway leading to the base of the bridge.
The downside of all this fun was that we were all too tired to stay up late to watch any fireworks displays. In lieu of that, we purchased sparklers and some exploding “flower” sort of things for the kiddos to light once we got home. All in all, it was a delightful day. 🙂
