One special event of this vacation in California was getting to meet one of my blogging friends: Susan of A Life of Grace. Susan and her husband William drove over two hours to join us at Dad and Mom Taron’s home here in Inverness for a time of visiting, and enjoying a barbeque meal together.
It was fun to discover that Dad Taron had been in the same line of work as William, so they had plenty of fuel for discussion. Dad Taron was so surprised. He looked over at me and asked, “How do you know this guy?” I guess he hadn’t been expecting that he would feel so at ease with his mystery guests!
William also assisted Rick as Rick prepared barbequed fresh oysters for those adventurous enough to partake of this delicacy. While the guys took care of the cooking, Susan and I visited. We talked of such things as our families, places we have lived, and places they hope to travel. We both enjoy the author Jane Austen, and movies made from her books. Susan, the book I wanted to recommend to you but couldn’t remember at the time is Jane Austen in Scarsdale: Or Love, Death, and the SATs by Paula Marantz Cohen, a funny remix of the book Persuasion.
Here are a couple photos taken by Rick:

Susan and me!
Hi Joyce,
Thank you for the sweet post! I enjoyed meeting you today (and your family), and getting a chance to spend time visiting. Thank you once again for the invitation, and for your families hospitality. William and I both had a good time, and enjoyed the yummy hamburgers! Have a safe trip home. (I will write about our meeting when my mind isn’t so fuzzy. (o: ) Oh, I will look for that book, it sounds interesting. Take care.
That is wonderful Joyce & Susan!
Glad you had such a good time. 🙂
I’ve had the pleasure of meeting two blogging buddies and it’s been the height of my blogging experience. It’s wonderful that Susan and William made an instant connection with your family. It sounds like you all had a great time.
Your pictures of your trip are fantastic. Especially the ones at the beach. Makes me want to go there!
How fun to connect in ‘real life’ with someone you met in this ‘virtual world’ … very kewl ;–)
Hugs and blessings,
how cool that you were able to meet your blogging buddy in real life. Don’t you just love the internet?
[…] The three youngest children took excellent care of themselves, our pets and the home while Rick, Debra and I spent almost two weeks in California. Rick was doing carpentry work for his folks, but it was also a time of going to the beach, visiting family, and even meeting my blogging friend Susan! […]
