Written on Thursday, for my Friday Haiku inspiration:
Today a very cold rain is falling. It’s about 30 degrees Fahrenheit, and we’re hoping for snow, for winter play’s sake, and snow days off from school. As I take the girls to school in the dark morning hours, we say to one another, “This would be a perfect day to stay home, all cozy in jammies, with a steaming mug of cocoa and a good book to read.”
We know, though, that today we will work. The girls will go to class, do their studying. I will go to school, too, to help students with their math questions.
When we all get home, after the day’s duties are fulfilled, our time together will be all the sweeter. Rest after toil.
These wee cogitations are the inspiration for my Haikus today:
Precipitation
Wipers on “fast”; can’t keep up.
Cold enough to snow
Such a dark morning.
We’re sleepy; want a snow day,
Cocoa and a book
Keep driving to school.
Work comes now, but later . . . Play!
Anticipation

I love it, Joyce! Such great imagery!
Thanks, Mishelle. Isn’t Haiku fun? (Kind of addictive, too?)
that was wonderful!!! thanks for sharing!
have an awesome and relaxing weekend!
Sounds like you will get a great fire going and some cocoa before you know it. Sounds very comfy cozy.
No fair, I want snow!
Your words paint pictures.
Cocoa and a book sound wonderful…even though we have no snow!
I love it! Great haiku!
No snow here: just lots and lots of rain. And scary (for kids) storms. I’d like some cocoa anyway, though.
Mmmmm cocoa on a snow day. 🙂
awesome!
no snow here either, but the cocoa and a book? that sounds wonderful.
Thank you all so much for your comments. We haven’t gotten our snow day yet, but we’re doing board games, card games, reading our books, drinking our cocoa, in the cozy house, etc. WISH YOU WERE HERE!
Do you think these get easier as you do them?
Nice 🙂
