First of all I would like to thank Michelle of She Looketh Well… for hostessing the Titus 2 Blog Party. Head on over to Michelle’s blog for instructions if this looks like something you might be interested in doing.
Hello! My name is Joyce. Thank you so much for stopping by my blog as you ‘make the rounds’ during the Titus 2 Blog Party. This is my first time participating in a virtual party. If you were here in my home I would offer you some coffee or tea and a homemade goodie, then we could sit down and get some serious visiting done!
I think I’ll start by quoting Titus 2:1-5, since the party is centered around these thoughts:
- But speak thou the things which become sound doctrine:
- That the aged men be sober, grave, temperate, sound in faith, in charity, in patience.
- The aged women likewise, that they be in behavior as becometh holiness, not false accusers, not given to much wine, teachers of good things;
- That they may teach the young women to be sober, to love their husbands, to love their children,
- To be discreet, chaste, keepers at home, good, obedient to their own husbands, that the word of God be not blasphemed.
I agree with what God’s Word says here. Loving one’s husband and children doesn’t ‘come naturally,’ yet it is a worthy and a necessary goal.
I would also say that Titus 2 is NOT a ‘To Do’ list that I just set my mind to, and then do. Just as Jesus Christ came to save sinners, He came to sanctify sinners. I can’t begin with Christ and go on by my own ‘fantastic’ will power. No such thing!
I think the main theme of my life as a Christian woman is that life is not about me; it’s about Christ. As it says in Philippians 4:13, I can do all things through Christ which strengtheneth me.
As for the stats, here are a few:
- My husband and I have nine children. We love ’em, and have, imperfectly, brought them up in the nurture and admonition of the Lord.
- I am amazed that I still have so much to learn about being a loving, selfless person, even though this is one of my main goals.
- I genuinely enjoy being a wife and mother. Always have. I have difficulty understanding those who find being a ‘stay-at-home mom’ a less than desirable vocation.
- We have home schooled, Christian schooled, and public schooled our youngun’s.
I hope that’s sufficient for an intro. We’ll see what happens next with this.

I liked it, lovely post.
Don’t forget the Mr. Linky, I can’t wait until you have some visitors, me either for that matter.
Hi Joyce! Welcome to the party! Thank you so much for coming!
I loved your intro, now you are someone I can relate too! I could totally relate to the first three, I mean as if I WROTE THEM! The last one, we just haven’t public schooled, so I think we are a fit 😉
Have a lovely week and thank you again for joining in!
I sure wish I was there for tea and goodies, I am starving. I needed to attend to blog party business and now I need to eat!
Clinging to my Jesus,
Michelle
Nice to “meet” you Joyce. I appreciate you sharing your life goals so simply and openly! Looking forward to reading more during the week.

CristyLynn

Hi,
So nice to meet you. Hope you’re enjoying the blog party!
Blessings, Jules
Hello Joyce!! How very nice to meet you too! I am enjoying the Blog Party very much! You sound like one busy mama with everything you have going on. What a neat post it was to read about your day from last night.
Have a wonderful day!!!
Dear Ladies,
Thank you all SO MUCH for visiting me during the Titus 2 Blog Party!
I’ve responded to all of you by email, and enjoyed going ’round to read about you as well.
Thank you. 🙂
Joyce,
It’s nice to “meet” you. I loved what you said when you wrote: “Just as Jesus Christ came to save sinners, He came to sanctify sinners. I can’t begin with Christ and go on by my own ‘fantastic’ will power. No such thing!” That’s wonderful and very encouraging. Sometimes I get caught up in trying to “do it all” (in my own power, of course!) that I loose sight of the fact that I have to rely on God to work THROUGH me. Thank you for this wonderful comment, and I look forward to reading more!
What truth! We really can’t live the Christian life (let alone the Titus 2 life!) without Christ! Good stuff!!
I’m sure I have a lot to learn from you–Mother of Nine! I have six so far. The oldest is 7 years old. So, I have quite a ways to go!
Good to be having a party with you!
Joyce, You are so right,…it is all about Jesus!
Thanks for sharing!
Linda
Thanks for stopping by the blog! I love yours!
