There’s just something about this time of year that gets me thinking about My Favorite Things. I think it’s the warm woolen mittens, the snowflakes that stay on my nose and eyelashes, and the silver white winter we’re having (For a few days we have silver white winter.) Or maybe it’s the sleigh bells that do it.
My Favourite Things
Artist: Julie Andrews
Raindrops on roses and whiskers on kittens
Bright copper kettles and WARM WOOLEN MITTENS
Brown paper packages tied up with strings
These are a few of my favorite things!Cream colored ponies and crisp apple strudels
Doorbells and SLEIGH BELLS and schnitzel with noodles
Wild geese that fly with the moon on their wings
These are a few of my favorite things!Girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes
SNOWFLAKES THAT STAY ON MY NOSE AND EYE LASHES
SILVER WHITE WINTERS that melt into spring
These are a few of my favorite things! When the dog bites, when the bee stings
When I’m feeling sad,
I simply remember
my favorite things
and then I don’t feel so bad!

So, My Favorite Things is my inspiration for today’s Haiku.
I totally LOVE spending lots of time at Barnes and Noble, looking through books with my girls, and, this time of year, possibly enjoying a gingerbread latté!
Books are “where it’s at”.
Let’s browse to our hearts’ content
And then a latté
So good to see you!
Let’s eat first; buffet’s ready
Then talk, sing, laugh, games
Music at our house:
Violins, chanter, voices,
Guitar, soft strumming
PJs and cocoa.
Get out the games; let’s play cards.
Girls night IN the house.

great haikus! happy Friday! 🙂
great ‘kus … and i LOVE the little cartoons!
I so totally love what you did here. Awesome haikus and awesome clip art to go with. Did you design those?
Thanks so much, Janet and Mishelle. I love the cartoons, too. I found them as clip art. It would be great to credit the artist, but I don’t know how to track down that info.
