It has been a while since I’ve participated in Simply Kind Tuesdays, but here I am today, so let’s see what I can do with this topic.
Kindness, the sort of kindness that proceeds from a genuine caring for others, is something I want to see more and more of in my life. I know that this ability to love others selflessly is a gift from God. By His grace, may His love flow through me to others. There’s a verse, James 1:27, that states:
Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world.
This says to me that kindness shows itself in real, practical ways. Galatians 6:10:
As we have therefore opportunity, let us do good unto all men, especially unto them who are of the household of faith.
One opportunity for showing kindness that occurs regularly in my life is that of helping my elderly mom with this and that as she now resides in an assisted living apartment, due to the frailty of her old age. I routinely help her with the practical things, such as shopping and grooming, but just recently noticed something she really enjoys.
Daughter Laura and I went for a visit, taking Diederick, who is 2 ½ and Carly, who is 7 months old, to see their great grandmother. I could see that the visit had to be short, since Carly’s energetic shouts startled my mom, but it was fun while it lasted. Laura snapped some photos, which we developed and framed so that my mom could show them off to her friends.
Would you like to participate in Simply Kind Tuesdays? Here is what hostess Claudia says about this meme:
“Remember there’s no such thing as a small act of kindness.
Every act creates a ripple with no logical end.â€
– Scott AdamsThis is a new (11/08) meme for Tuesdays. The goal is to keep kindness on our blogs and in our minds. Please join me in reminding the world of the simple power of kindness.
Simply Kind Tuesdays
1. Write about kindness on Tuesdays.
* You may write an entire post about kindness
* You may include kindness in your posts. Even one line will do!
2. Outside of kindness, there is no specified topic. You can talk about the kind acts you are doing, something you saw in the paper, kindness in general, or….
3. The goal of Simply Kind Tuesdays increase awareness of the kindness that surrounds us.
4. To join this challenge, simply grab a Simply Kind Tuesday Banner and add your n ame to the Mr. Llinky at the bottom of this post.
I like the idea of Simply Kind Tuesdays…I will have to see if I can start that as well! What great pictures of the different generations. I used to work with elderly people on a daily basis, and I would venture to guess that your visits do wonders for her health.
May God bless your day and week!!
Very nice. 🙂
I hadn’t noticed before how Deeder’s holding Carly’s hand. Cuteness!
I’m glad that your mom enjoyed visiting with the kids.
