Sing a Song of Fishies
June 28th, 2008 . by JoyceThe writing prompt this week at One Single Impression is MELODY, suggested by Barb at WillThink4Wine. The poetic form which Barb employed is called TANKA, and is written as follows:
- Line 1: 5 syllables
- Line 2: 7 syllables
- Line 3: 5 syllables
- Line 4: 7 syllables
- Line 5: 7 syllables
I’m going to give Tanka a try as well, using the prompt, MELODY:
We think it’s funny
How much Dad loves his fishpond.
Takes umpteen photos
Spring, summer, autumn, winter;
Our laughter, a melody.

How fun! I love it! Isn’t it funny how much joy we get from Dad’s idiosyncricies? My Dad’s a peach!
Yikes! Bare feet on the ice doesn’t look very comfortable!!

Joyce,
This reminds me of my dad and his pond. Boys are boys are boys! This is a lovely poem, and the images are fun. Thanks.

What fun, both the tanka and the photos! (And such a sense of the love underlying it all….)

If I didn’t have a deadline, I’d try to write a Tanka (first I’ve heard of this). Thanks for visiting my site. I hope you come back again.
