“He hath shewed thee, O man, what is good; and what doth the LORD require of thee, but to do justly, and to love mercy, and to walk humbly with thy God?” – Micah 6:8
In this verse I find such assurance that our God is a good God. The way that He expects us to treat others says so much about Him.
- We are not to take advantage of others. Rather we are to do what is just and fair.
- We are to love mercy. Wow! This is contrary to the human tendency to pay back and retaliate. Rather, the Lord wants us to show kindness to those who don’t deserve it. This is what He does for us.
Also, the Lord says that we are to walk humbly with Him. I take this to mean that He wants me to:
- Take Him at His Word; believe Him!
- Believe that He means what He says; obey Him!
May the Lord enable us, with the eyes of faith, to know, love and appreciate Him more.
How about you, dear blogging friends? Would you like to participate in Spiritual Sundays, too? Just read about it and link up at Charlotte and Ginger’s Spiritual Sundays site.
How we treat others is so important to God. Thank you for sharing these thoughts on Spiritual Sundays and for promoting that blog.

Love mercy.
Lately my favorite verse has been Psalm 33:18:
“”Behold, the eye of the LORD is upon them that fear him, upon them that hope in his mercy”
That God would be pleased with me, not when I am cringing in fear at His judgement, but when I acknowledge His judgement is true, yet I hope in His mercy.
And if so how much more toward others?
I got excited about two novels Tender Grace by Jackina Stark and New Mercies by Sandra Dallas. They talked about things like these. I liked the way you described mercy Joyce. I find this lacking sometimes with the odd teacher, sad to say, I find it hard to understand.
Lamentations 3:22-23
“Because of the LORD’s great love we are not consumed, for his compassions (mercies) never fail. They are new every morning; great is your faithfulness. I say to myself, The LORD is my portion; therefore I will wait for him.”
Break, break, break
At the foot of thy crags, O Sea!
But the tender grace of a day that is dead
Will never come back to me. ~ Tennyson
Amen Joyce…a great post! Thank you so much for sharing. I hope you have a wonderful week ahead!
This is such great verse.I work in the public so I try so hard to treat people good. I got a big smile on my face as I was reading your invitation for people to join in on Spiritual Sunday, that was so sweet.
God Bless,

Beautiful verse and description… so true, it is totally against human nature not to retaliate, but it always works out so much better when we just forgive and let go… Thank you for sharing! I hope you have a wonderful week!
Thank you for these thoughts and insights on how we treat others….God is very clear on that isn’t He. God bless…..and thank you for sharing.
All of the comments state it so beautifully. I am at a loss of words. Thanks for such a nice post.
