Ten Favorite Children’s Movies
February 10th, 2009 . by JoyceThe topic this week for Ten on Tuesday is, ‘What are ten favorite children’s movies?’ Our family has many of the same favorites as yours, I am sure, but I decided to list some Japanese animated films by Hayao Miyazaki which are some of our all-time favorites. Also, here is a YouTube video biography of Miyazaki by Erica Karen which is excellent. Without further ado, here are some of our Miyazaki favorites:
- The Castle of Cagliostro
- Whisper of the Heart
- My Neighbor Totoro
- Kiki’s Delivery Service
- Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind
- Howl’s Moving Castle
- Laputa: Castle in the Sky
- Spirited Away
- Porco Rosso
- Princess Mononoke

I can honestly say, I have not heard of any of these movies.

So, it looks like we have a whole new set of movies to investigate. Interestingly enough, I haven’t heard of these, so I appreciate the recommendation! We’ll have to check them out from our library!
Have a great day!
We enjoyed Howl’s Moving Castle, a recommendation from you guys!!! And you lent it to us, thank you so much! I was so glad to see what this genre was all about. It’s different and has a foreign feel to it. I like that! Everything for kids doesn’t have to be Disney and/or Pixar, as creative and technologically advanced as they are. Other movie companies and directors have much to offer, we just need to them out. Which one would you recommend to us off your list, besides Howl’s??;-)

I’ve never heard of any of these movies but will be checking them out!!
Wow – I’m so not internationally savvy in this category. I was going to suggest “The Princess Bride.”
Wow … I’m clearly out of touch after being happily retired since 2001 because I don’t recognize ANY of these movies!
Hugs and blessings,
