The Simple Woman’s Daybook
October 6th, 2008 . by JoyceHOSTED BY PEGGY
For Today, Oct. 6, 2008:
Outside my Window… I see our kitty, Bonnie Boy, perched on the front porch railing, smiling a contented kitty smile. Beyond, I see leaves, some still green, trembling in the breeze. It’s only 50 degrees outside. Ten years ago it was 75 degrees on this date. We’re enjoying a cool, gray autumn day here.
I am thinking… it’s about time to get back to household duties.
From the learning rooms… Two students with whom I work at the middle school made good progress today in revising their personal memoirs.
I am thankful for… God’s providence, in continually caring for our family, day after day.
From the kitchen… I’m making Beef Stroganoff and baked potatoes for dinner tonight. Hmmm . . . Coleslaw would be good with that.
I am wearing… School clothes: Multi-shades of blue sweater over a brown-edged top and a black mid-calf gored skirt.
I am reading… The Shiniest Jewel: A Family Love Story by Marian Henley.
I am hoping… to find comfortable shoes for my elderly mom.
I am creating…this blog post before I get started on the stroganoff.
I am hearing…the chatter of grandson, Diederick. He has decided to call my husband “Poppa,” and keeps wandering by Rick’s office, saying, “Hi, Poppa! Hi, Poppa!”
Around the house… When I got home from the middle school I came into Rick’s office to greet him. He was working on drawing plans at his computer, balancing 4-month old granddaughter Carly on his lap. ‘Twas a sight to warm the cockles of me heart, I tell ya!
One of my favorite things… Kissing Carly over and over on the top of her head, and blowing kisses on Diederick’s neck.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…Attend Seth’s 7th grade football game, and Rebecca and Lydia’s high school soccer games. They have two games this week.
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…
Check out the graphics at Snapshots of Joy, one of my favorite sites for Christian graphics! This one looks like “autumn” to me.

Thank you for visiting my blog today! I enjoyed reading your posts and think you live in one of the most beautiful places on earth. We drove to the redwood forest in northern California this summer and travelled through OR and WA. I’d love to go again! Enjoy the games this week

Thanks for dropping by to visit my garden; I love having company & enjoy meeting new folks.
Yes, we’re about 50 miles from Santa Clara- our daughter is living there, but we don’t make it into the Bay Area too often anymore. We’ve lived in Tracy for 14 yrs & it’s hard to go back into the crowded atmosphere more then a couple times a year

Wow … the weather has certainly cooled down for YOU. We’re having a bit of a HEAT WAVE the last couple of days in So Cal … with very blue cloudless skies once again. I enjoyed reading about your BUSY and productive day in this post and very much appreciate the picture thought you’ve shared. Thank you also for the link to the Christian graphics!
