For Today October 13, 2008
Outside my Window…
It’s been a dark day, with a dense cloud cover. Rain is pouring straight down on the yellow and brown leaves carpeting the lush, green grass. A gentle breeze ruffles the remaining leaves on the trees this cool-ish day.
I am thinking…
Of my daughter who is at soccer practice, and my son who is at football practice, even in all this rain. Hardly any weather condition calls for cancellation of those two sports. I imagine warm showers and cozy sweats will be in order this evening.
From the learning rooms…
We are still working on our Fall Assessments of Student Learning for our students who have Individualized Learning Plans. These tests results give the Special Education teacher the information she needs to customize instruction for these students.
I am thankful for…
Our warm, cozy home. Our woodstove is heating the house this damp day. We have plenty of firewood, and enough propane to fuel the boiler as well.
From the kitchen…
I’m preparing New England Pot Roast and Baked Potatoes for dinner. I’m also baking Honey Whole Wheat Bread. If I have enough energy, I’ll bake some Pumpkin Yum, too. Search for the bread and dessert recipes on my blog, if you’re interested.
I am wearing…
A white cotton blouse, variegated blue tone over-sweater, and black skirt.
I am reading…
When Life Stinks: How to Deal with Your Bad Moods, Blues, and Depression by Michel Piquemal. This book is aimed at Middle School/High School readers.
I am hoping…
Daughter Lydia feels better soon. She suffered a concussion during a soccer game over a week ago. The doctor said no P.E., and no soccer practice or games until she has gone one week without any symptoms (such as headache and dizziness).
I am creating…
Lots of delicious aromas in the house with all this cooking and baking!
I am hearing…
My grandson’s chatter as he rides his inchworm scooter through the house.
Around the house…
Things are looking good. The pool is down for the winter, and a dump run has been made. My husband recently mowed the grass as well. It will be another month before mowing can stop, I think.
One of my favorite things…
Preparing a really delicious dinner for my family. Cooking has been a hobby since I was young. I started collecting recipes in good earnest during my high school years.
A Few Plans For The Rest Of The Week…
This Thursday I’m participating in an advisory committee meeting at Whatcom Community College. I’m one of the para educators on the committee, giving input to those responsible for training para educators (teacher’s helpers) for the schools. A delicious catered dinner precedes the meeting. Yum!
Here is a picture thought I am sharing with you…
