To-Do ‘Ku

Spent last weekend sick:

I was so disappointed;

Things got messier!

I want to clean house,

Garden, bake, get all caught up

Here on the home front.

I’m feeling better

And with a three-day weekend

Might tackle these tasks:

Fetch bulk food order;

Grind some wheat, bake bread again

And dessert, of course.

Deep clean the kitchen

(Refrigerator, at least);

That’s a worthy goal.

Then it’s head outside:

Plant a few perennials

And do some weeding.

This is my idea

Of an enjoyable break;

“Fun” can come later.

As an aside, this desire to get some work done reminds me of this great quote:

“The greatest analgesic, soporific, stimulant, tranquilizer, narcotic, and to some extent even antibiotic–in short, the closest thing to a genuine panacea–known to medical science is work.”

Thomas Szasz (b. 1920). U.S. psychiatrist. ‘Medicine,’ The Second Sin (1973).

    Thank you, Laura. My husband just installed my “new” oven that he found on Craig’s List. It was going to cost $500 to replace the control panel on my old oven. 🙁 Now I can start working in the kitchen.
