Waiting and another warm day

I received the above photos via email this morning from Rick, right before he and the children left the motel in Grants Pass on the last leg of their homeward journey. This was my first peek at the little sailboat that is coming home to live with us, as a gift from Grampa Taron, 85-year-old world class sailor. Thanks, Dad Taron! I think Rick will make sure that the children learn how to properly guide this craft, and will make Grampa proud.

It’s 5:30pm, and I just had a call from Rebecca, letting me know that they’re as close as Everett. How tired Rick must be! I’m so sorry I wasn’t along to share the driving with him, and enjoy the visit with Grampa and Gramma, but duties here precluded doing those things. At least I have dinner waiting in the crock pot (Bratwurst and Sauerkraut) and cold beer in the ‘frig.

The girls have an invitation to go to the Fair this evening with some good friends. Hope they make it home in time; this is the last day of the Fair!

Well, time to go put some finishing touches on dinner. I’m so happy my dearies are almost home. 🙂

Hi, Marmee, Very good! Rick says it is gaff-rigged. Officially it is a San Francisco Pelican, a sailing dory-pram with standing lug rig. It’s pretty cute. 🙂
