What to take to a desert island
May 19th, 2008 . by JoyceThe hostess of Give Me Five Monday
asks this week, “What are five movies you would choose to have along if you were stranded on a desert island?”
I CAN and HAVE watched some movies more than once, mainly to be sociable with my family, but movies just don’t compare with BOOKS, in my opinion. I would much rather reread a book than watch a movie again. So I am substituting BOOKS for MOVIES. Here are 5 books I would like to have with me if I were stranded on a desert island:
- The Holy Bible, preferably King James Version (since that’s the version to which I’m most accustomed, though Revised Standard Version and New American Standard Versions are also familiar.)
- A book on survival techniques
- All of Patrick McManus’ books, for lots of good laughs
- All of G.I. Williamson’s Bible study and catechism books
- All of Jane Austen’s books

Number 2 is the best! I love books, too, probably more than movies. Thanks for stopping by my GM5.

Books are a great idea! And they don’t require electricity

Great list, even if they were books LOL
Survival techniques book, now that would have been a good movie to have, maybe some episodes of the ‘Survivorman’ show on the Science channel. He is alone with some cameras for 7 days in various remote locations and shows you what to eat, what not to eat, how to make shelters and so on. Good show! Great list too!
